About Us
Weldmar Hospicecare Trust is a local charity providing high
quality community based specialist services for people with
cancer and similar life threatening diseases in Dorset. Once
three separate charities we are now one merged organisation
with the aim of providing seamless care for patients and
their loved ones when cancer or other incurable illnesses
strike. We
cover the West, North and South of Dorset and visit patients
at home or in hospital.
At least one in three of us will be diagnosed
with cancer at some point in our lives. The good news is that
more people than ever are living with cancer and enjoying long
and fulfilling lives.
Joseph Weld & Trimar Hospice offer
inpatient respite and daycare facilities.
Under the leadership of two palliative care consultants and
Director of Nursing the team of 45 nurses provide specialist
high quality care for patients, their families and friends.
Under
the Director of Nursing our team of 15 specialist palliative
care nurses in the community offer help, support and advice
throughout the cancer journey enabling patients to stay
in the community for as long as possible.
We also offer professional support from physiotherapy, occupational therapy,
social work, professional bereavement support, music therapy, diversional therapy
and aromatherapy. A chaplain also gives pastoral and spiritual support to patients,
their relatives and carers, and members of the hospice staff.
